In Argentina you will find a vast number of stores as well as shopping malls with plenty of shops and facilities, such as Paseo Alcorta, Patio Bullrich and Alto Palermo Shopping. The latter possesses a food court for 730 people, 700 indoor parking lots and 154 stores.
Shopping centers and department stores open from 10.00 am to 9.00 or 10.00 pm uninterruptedly. These huge stores are also open on Sundays and the only day they close is on January 1st. The normal working hours of ordinary shops are Mondays though Fridays from 10 am to 10 pm and Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm.

If you are looking for regional leather, here you will find from small leather stores to huge factories selling it. The pedestrian walk of Florida Street is the best place to buy some: leather jackets, coats and so on, with the highest quality and international prestige.
Typical souvenirs range from mates and ponchos, to silver photo frames and leather Gaucho belts, known as “rastras”.
You will also find first-rate antiques in Argentina. The neighborhood of San Telmo is the right place to buy the most exclusive pieces of furniture. Every Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm, there is an open market at Plaza Dorrego with numerous kiosks selling different articles –from teapots to old hats– and many street performances taking place, including tango shows.
Furthermore, the last Friday of every month, Recoleta becomes a large showroom, as every art gallery, museum and art shop in town opens its doors at night for a superb art event. |
